This would finally end the derisive chant of ‘1940,’ the last year the Rangers won the cup, directed at the Rangers and their fans by opposing team’s fans. Several creative fans held up a sign that read ‘Now I Can die in Peace’ which best summed up the sublime feelings of New York fans as 54 years of heartbreak and futility melted away in one glorious moment.
